Rural Locums Northland is an arm of Te Tai Tokerau Primary Health Organisation (PHO) that supports a membership of 460 registered health professionals in the delivery of primary care services to 64, 074 patients.
This number includes general practitioners, registered or enrolled nurses, counsellors, diversional therapists, midwives, occupational therapists, pharmacists, physios, podiatrists and social workers.
There are other health supporters who assist with primary care services. They range from health care assistants, community health workers, kahimahi and kaiawhina within these practices.
Rural Locums Northland operates a government contract, providing general practitioners and practice nurse (PN) locum support to all rural Northland general practices.
